Movies, Movies, Movies…

It is this time of year again where I become a nonexistent mother. Last year by about midway through the festival, my then 9-year old asked when I would be coming home. Life without mom just wasn’t the same, daddy dinner’s, lack of structure, understanding homework, etc. I am cutting back a bit this year. Instead of seeing 2-3 movies during the week, I will only see one per night, so it feels like I am still around. Weekends will still be the full 12 hours of film. Sundance is the one thing I just love for me. I work, I am a mom, I manage all the things that go with kids, the house, sports and for 11 BEAUTIFUL days I engross myself into film with a few of my lovelies.

My recent pre-prep movies were Chasing Coral and Landfillharmonic with the kids, Ladybird, Call Me By My Name and Screenagers (with the kids). One day when my kids don’t think I am cool anymore, which will be just a few short years away, I am going to attend some workshops to figure out how to get my ideas into script form. I am going to have something entered into Sundance one day! Although in the meantime, I plan to curate a new project showing Sundance and other independent films suitable for kids to inspire our kids to be better humans and see the world beyond their SLC bubble.

Here are the movies I have calendared to see and review:
